Accomodation in Dubai

Dear friends,

does somebody of you know a "payable" accomodation in Dubai??

We are now in Muscat and will be there in more or less 2 weeks??

We are travelling around the world on 2 XT 600 Teneres from 1986. Coming from Africa and we have to do some work on them, before we are heading to Iran, Pakistan and India.

Best wishes

I have family visiting till the 10th December. After that you are welcome to stay. There is plenty of room.

In any case, I can show you where to find mechanics, tyres etc.

Pass by (even before the 10th) or drop me a line.

I got your e-mail and have replied but you didn't mention the Stollen...

If possible, some real Nürnberger Lebkuchen...

Welcome to Dubai. Before you buy you should decide what kind of riding you want to do.

If you want to ride on the road, there’s a biggish BMW community and they go on road trips fairly often, as I understand. They don’t do any real off-roading though. I’ve never seen 650 let alone an 1150 seriously used in the sand here. A Dakar might be good for exploring wadis, I suppose. That’s not to say I don’t like them, I’ve ridden a 650 a lot and really enjoy it.

The KTM is pretty heavy and is used by the serious riders in the desert rally but a friend of mine just sold his (mainly because of the weight) and bought the new CRF450X. He let me ride it last week and it’s fantastic. But even though it’s got a headlamp (no horn, mirrors or indicators) and can be legally registered for road use in Dubai don’t choose it if you prefer road riding.

If I could justify trading in my XR400 I’d buy a CRF tomorrow. You might also consider the slightly smaller CRF250X because in dunes the flat out power is not always needed and 250 still has plenty as well as being easier to handle.

The summer riding is hot. Start now so you get acclimatised and then in the summer you can ride early mornings or late afternoons.

Stephan
