where to start?
 

i am planning to ride from ghana down to south africa over 4 months and i wish to raise money for two charities i have done some work with in the past.

i'm not really sure where to get started. i will contact both the charities shortly to talk to them about the concept but apart from that i'm not really sure where to go from there.

so any tips would be great. things like should i make a website? what worked well for you guys what didn't work well.
just sort of a beginers guide to the whole making a difference thing.

Hi Oz, Im in the throw of planning a charity ride to The Arctic. Ive been planning for about 8 months . You need to give yourself plenty of time to get publicity , sponsorship and in my case learning about the tec side of lap tops and smart phones etc. 1st I had a web site set up by a local company for nothing .Anybody helping me thro gets the exposure on my web site. The easiest way to manage your web site is thro Face Book[costs nothing] Next local radio are usually interested in our stories. Local newspapers also . The national papers will often pick stories from local rags. But nearer the time of departure no harm in contacting them.
