Teaching English in the Ecuadorian Amazon
 

Hi, I just wanted to put this out there for anyone who might be interested in volunteering teaching English to children in a Shuar community in the Ecuadorian high Amazon.

I ran into this opportunity by chance when I was travelling through Ecuador and it was a great experience and an excellent way to experience the jungle and get to know a local community. It wasn't formal by any means and I just happened to run into someone who's friend was looking for people to come and teach English in his community.

Room and board are included in exchange for 3-5 hours of lessons per day.
You live with a local family and accommodations are basic ie. there is electricity but no running water.
You don't have to speak Spanish but it helps (my Spanish was pretty bad at the time).
Please plan on spending at least 2 weeks.

Martin's community is called Nantar and is located about 1/2 hour from Palora, a small city on the road between Puyo and Macas.
