London to Cape Town - Charity Motorbike Ride

Hi Susan,

Myself and 2 mates are setting off from London next week to travel by motorbike all the way through Africa to Cape Town. We are undertaking this fantastic adventure in support of 3 great charity causes, namely Save the Rhino, Unicef and Umtha Welanga.

We have a dedicated website for our trip www.2k5africa.co.za where more information about us and the charities is available. This website will be regularly updated whilst we are away telling tells from the saddle.

We have raised a total of approximately £13,000 to date and are hoping to raise £50,000 by the time we get to Cape Town. It would be great if we could hear from people who are keen to assist us, not just financially, but with tips and advice on where we will be going and from people who may be on our route.

We will be having a launch party at the Hole in the Wall pub on Sutton Lane North in Chiswick W4 4LD at 12:00 on Saturday 02/04/05. Please feel free to come along and the invitation is extended to all travellers, bikers, and anyone who would like to jump on board the band wagon of this exciting adventure.

My contact details are on the website and I invite anyone to email us with their thoughts.

Thanks, Mark.

Mark,

Hope your fundraising and trip went well. I've tried to look at your website but it isn't loading (may be my computer palying up though). Do you have any hints/tips as to how you went about your fundraising- would be much appreciated as we plan todo something similar leaving next year.

Thanks,

Chris

Yes Please

Hi,

I would be interested as well. I want to raise money for the North London Children's Charity that I volunteered at last year but am getting to a slow start with the fund raising on top of just getting myself ready.

Thanks in advance,
Annette

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
