8000 mile charity rally
 

This July 22nd I will be setting off from Hyde Park in London for the 3rd Annual Mongol Rally I will be riding the Classic Honda c90 approximately 8000 miles from London to Ulaan Bataar in Mongolia I will be the first ever and only motorcycle entrant to be attempting this grueling journey for the chance to raise money for several worthy charities
Send a Cow. Provides a fascinating approach to helping poor families in Africa

CNCF. A truly inspirational Mongolian Children’s Charity

Mercy Corps. This is an amazing charity taking a careful and effective approach to helping the poor in rural Mongolia

Wildlife CRU. Their approach not only benefits the endangered and little studied species but the local economy and community as well.

CAMDA. Bringing veterinary aid to thousands of horses in 2 Northern provinces. 29,000 horses were given life-enhancing inoculations in 2004 and in 2005 and it is being extended to a third. In 2006 they aim to reach more than 45,000 horses in these 3 areas.

I hope to achieve £8000 for my gruelling journey a mere £1 for every mile to help the above charities and cant thank the HUBB enough for all the information helping me prepare anybody wanting to view my team page can do so at www.londontomongolia.co.uk

I've just heard about this rally and I went to see the off on Saturday. Met one guy on a Hyosung Aquila 125 (I think - the 125 cruiser anyway). These people are clearly crazy. I think I'll be partaking next year. The rules are simple - cars under 1000cc, bikes under 125cc (solo) or 250cc (two up). You must also raise £1000 for the nominated charities to enter. The spirit of the competition is to use the most unsuitable vehicle. So, if anyone wants to sponsor me, let me know. Also, if anyone knows where a Hyosung GF125 in blue with the licence plate LX03 GFE is, please let me know as I want to buy it back. UB here I come (eventually).

Good luck to any entrants who are reading this, especially the bikers.

It'll take them for ever!!! Russia is so big, miles and miles of nothing to see (apart from countryside)!! We are in UB now and to get here we have done a number of 600 km days. I don't think that is possible on a 125. I hope that they are carrying spares because they can't dump the bikes in Russia without a lot of problems.

I think they've scheduled 3 to 5 weeks to get there, but there are a number of different routes and not all of them finish in UB.

First of all many thanks for everybodys support and emails i finally arrived in Mongolia on the 25th August after five hard weeks riding, from blowing the engine in Germany, getting knocked into a field in Poland,almost mugged in the Ukraine,awaking to a snake in Kazakhstan struggling through miles or dirt track at hot hot degrees to freezing my balls off in Siberia i loved every minute and have already started planning to take a different route next year using the Honda Monkey bike a truly fantastic adventure with the best result of helping the street children of Mongolia

also the other bike has now arrived in UB and last i heard he was bringing the bike back if he could mine was sent to the childrens centre for auction as much as i would of loved to keep it but arriving in Ulan Bator with $5 and enough for my flight home the bike had to go

well done that man!
 

As a fellow c90 user/abuser, it is amazing what the trusty cub can do. I believe you live just down the road from me (Skipton), we will have to partake of the ale one day.
My next c90 trip is accross Norway/sweden and into finland January 2007.

I know the guy who made a trip about 12000km on scooter from Moscow to Vladivostok and around, can he take a part in this caferacing next year?

yes it is open to anyone the rules are under 125cc and the route is your own choice the minimum for charity must be £1000 but it is a great adventure and even with nearly 200 cars doing the rally i only met one team in the entire journey to mongolia for 10 minutes in siberia, endless possiblities to get into trouble fantastic i loved every minute

Hello all I might as well set the ball rolling again for the 2007 Mongol Rally.

Yes so soon I know but this year 1,2 or 3 of us (depending on sponsorship) will be attempting to ride to Mongolia from London once more but this time on the 50cc Monkey or Gorilla bikes all to aid the Christina Noble Children's Foundation once again!
