Rear wing fuel tanks - fuel gauge?

I have a prototype rear wing diesel tank from Allisport.

Just checking with all those of you out there who also have one - when you fill up completely, do you have to use about 40 litres before your fuel gauge starts to drop at all?

Tank will be coming out soon so an easy chance to replace bits inside the tank etc.

That is correct for the tanks that connect inline with the filler hose.

cant remember what make mine is, its been about 25+ yrs , holds approx 45 L but there is a bottom balance pipe , and the guage reads usage as normal , ie as the tanks content drop so does the guage . there is no plateau stage . Its a V8 but still doesnt use the fuel up so fast that 35 litres is gone before the guage catches up

I use a Frontrunner 45 liter wing tank, and the gauge starts reading after some 40 liters.

Cheers,

Gee

I've got one as well... but it's sat in the garage. needs "notching" so it'll fit around the rear cage leg that bolts to the crossmember.

Needs plating too, as it's rusted through in places. time for a rebuild I think.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
