Hi,

I to am running 255/85's on wolfs with no problems to date. You say you need bigger offset, what width tyres are you planning on running? the 255's are a good choice.

As stated above the ZU wheels are alloy. If you wanted similar looks, the Mach 5's produced here in the UK are steel and have a reasonably high load rating as they are used on many competition vehicles.

That suspension in the pic has a remote reservoir for damping. fully adjustable. Those offset wolfs do look the buisness

Hi Jim lets ge even more technical.

Is the 1600kg limit on each wheel so the rear axel would be a maximum of 3200kg in theory or is the 1600kg the axel weight?

I only ask as we have 1800 on the rear axel running on Disco steel wheels on our D2?

Andy,

The wheel rating has no significent bearing on total axle weight. These vary depending on model. Im running wolfs on my 90, but I dont get 2200kg/corner.

Official figures for a Defender are below:

Load Capabilities
Maximum Axle (Kg) 90

Hard Top
Std [HD]

Front axle [kg]

1250 [1250]

Rear axle [kg]

1380 [1500]

Gross vehicle weight [kg]

2400 [2550]

110

Pick Up

High Capacity Pick Up

Hard Top

Station Wagon

Double Cab Std [HD]

Front axle [kg]

1250 [1580]

Rear axle [kg]

1850 [2200]

Gross vehicle weight [kg]

3050 [3500]

130 Double Cab HCPU [HD]

Front axle [kg]

[1580]

Rear axle [kg]

[2200]

Gross vehicle weight [kg]

[3500]

130's and 110HD's run Wolfs so you can see where the numbers match up. not sure how these compare to your D2 specification, but I would assume your close to or on your limit with that weight.

cheers mate,

Yes we are running about 3.4 ton so a bit heavy 1.8 on the rear axel luckily King springs in australia made custom springs for stue so she rides well and the Bilstiens are upgraded internaly. they weighed the rear as 1.8 axel weight so just in, after speeking to Land Rover I can carry 2 ton rear axel but they recomend reduced speed but we only travel at 80 kmph any way due to fuel usage and when you travel too fast you miss so much, but the Steel wheels from a Comercial discovery as still going fine after 3 years constantly on crap roads. I wanted to go woolf rims but the PCI of the wheel nuts were different on the Disco 2.

But it show you that Comercial discovery steel wheels are fine for overland travel they can handle the weight fine.
