Do you really need it? Don't blame me if anything falls off, but in around 14000 miles of desert/road/trail and competition, I've only had two parts vibrate loose on my LC4 - one the mounting screw for one of the rubber buffers on which the tank is mounted, and the other was the sidestand. I do however torque every screw to the factory specs, and use the recommended locking fluids detailed in the manual and parts book. The fluids and a torque wrench are easily available.

Threadlock is now too late for me,
I overtightened one of the sidestand nuts yesterday and snapped the thread. So now I'm looking for a welder. (Don't worry, unlike Charles & Ewan, I will remove the battery first : ) ) |

You dont need to remove the battery if you weld using gas!!!! But I have to admit, I sat there with horrified thoughts as they happily took their arc welder to a 'complete circuit bike'. Sure enough, it destroyed the electrics....
I have found the loctite in Halfords of all places, next to the inflatable holders and 'ICE'..... 3ml of 271 for 2.99!!! Bargain...No side stand problems for me.....unless you count the large cut on my leg as the newly welded base plate sliced through my shin as the dumb 'ducati-esk' design auto flicked up!!! We LOVE bikes!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)) See you at the weekend, Dave [This message has been edited by davidlomax (edited 22 June 2005).] |
