Seude Seat Cover
 

Does anyone know where you can get a seude seat cover made, like the ones they use in the Dakar ?? Iv been searching for one to cover my 640 Adventure Comfort Seat for some time, without luck. Am based in the UK but am prepared to look worldwide.

Try an Auto- Upholsterers.... there should be plenty around London!

Just one thing, Suede looks lovely, but its a PITA to keep clean, holds water nearly as well as a Chamois leather and when wet is slippery, and goes 'Shiny' with wear..... which doesnt take long, Stains such as oil, grease etc are nearly impossible to remove.

Now I have told you all that...... hope you find what your looking for.:innocent:

P.S. If you wondering how I know, I worked as an Upholsterers apprentice for a year at 17 on an 'Employment Training' Programme or as we used to call them "Extra Tenner" programme as you got just 10 quid more than your Dole Money...... Back then the Suzuki Katana 1100 had a 'Suedette' seat, not real suede more of a fake but plenty of bikers wanted suede seats, and plenty of bikers had the above complaints... so Eddy stopped doing Suede.

I had a suede seat cover made for my old GS and did nearly 60k kms in dry and arid countries (Africa & Oz). It was a good choice for that climate. But, boy, if it gets soaked it takes ages to get dry again :-(

So now, upon returning to Europe I'm thinking of getting a new seat cover, back to standard seat materials. The old seat is worn out anyway, chassis broken. But instead of black, I prefer light grey. Doesn't heat up as much.

I have had a couple of seats covered by Viking Vinyls 07977 874075
The material is very similar to suede but waterproof.
Viking Vinyls is a mobile service he comes to you and is just outside London he also goes to Kempton park and North Weald auto jumbles and can usually do your seat while you wait at a fair price.
Also got an add in The Riders Digest.

That stuff wasn't available back then! :( if you wanted Suede, you had to put up with soggy jeans when it rained or carry a poly bag!

I was going to put one on mine and the 'getting soaking wet' thing put me off. Lots of people I know have used Viking Vinyls and have found them great. But any similar provider can help - perhaps find a few and ask them what the alternatives are whether it's for looks or function.

I haven't tried these but based on countless feedback I've read these are apparently the way forward, if you're willing to fork out this much (although the £/$ rate is pretty good at the moment)

yes right have a look around for a vehicle trimer, they can do any customs seat as you like....

I was working for a trimer for 7 years.... have a look under All Wheel Trim Ltd. index + ask for Kim, he will help.... I did cover my seat with that "original pimple Lara Croft - tome rider - Land Rover" vinyl very nice...

well just yesterday I received a seat vinyl in black, just what I was locking for my LC4 640, a sort raw-skin like surfaces and very stretchy from www.louis.de - Motorrad & Freizeit part-no: 10008652 called "antirutsch" well it's a anti-slip cover for bikes for Euro-29,95 in size 85x55cm, they do mail order...

i was after a seude cover for my ktm ,however now after reading this i think ill stick with me vinyl one

I second the suggestion of a Renazco, I had one on my 640, suede with a waterproof lining, superb seat built to my requirements.

I have been riding 40 years and i thought I knew everything.
I bought a KTM Adventure with a Renazco seat.
It is the finest seat I ever rode on.
The suede is a perfect choice for comfort. It dries quickly and you NEVER get monkey butt.
If you don't believe me find a loose piece and ride on it on a hot day. It is like the difference between wearing leather and plastic shoes.

Bill, it kind of depends where you are living on the planet really.... suede is next to useless in the UK cause' it rains a lot.
The wether in england is crap most of the time, hated the gloomy damp crap wether there. could never get warm, could never dry my boots n gloves out either from october to april.:(
