respraying the tank????

Has anyone had experience with repainting the tank on their Adventure.
After I had a light scurmish with a car the otherday I'm having my tank and fairing resprayed..the guy is worried about painting the tank as it will obviously expand and contract quite a bit..

I'm (almost) sure you can. A friend of mine is having the tank and fairing on his 640 Rallye resprayed and I'll let you know the result. I'm also interested as my KTM's had a few skirmishes with all sorts of things. Try asking the question at http://www.reiseenduro.de/cgi-bin/forum/config.pl

As with most Adventure sites it's a German one which leaves me unable to even find out where to register..but I'll keep everyone updated on how the job turns out..One more thing..I have the '97 all orange 620 with the tall clear screen..HOLY SH*T it cost me $400 to replace the screen plus $220 for the decal set.. bit on the rough side..

If you haven't already bought a screen here's some possibly cheaper options to investigate:
1. The Touratech screen for their BMW fairing kit looks the same and I've been led to believe that it's identical.
2. I'm fairly sure JD racing in UK (Tel/Fax +44 1752 848888) sold their own opaque version.
