Rear Shock Linkage Arm Broken Broken
640 ADV 2004 - Don't know if anybody has ever broken one of these before, it's the support strutt from the base of the rear shock to the frame. Tried alu welding it but broke again. Trying to have a steel one made locally (Bamako)but am worried about the tension and stress being different from the original, will this matter?

I've never heard of this component breaking before, but anyway if I was in your position I'd get a new part shipped in. Try Sommer in Germany, Marsh Performance in the UK (01752 844456) or even KTM UK. Isn't this a warranty issue if you're bike's a 2004? KTM UK offered to ship a new lower triple clamp to me in Africa when there was a recall on this part.
I know Marsh Performance ships parts abroad and I know DHL ships to Bamako, or at least they used to. |

Ta for the advice Ian.
DHL does indeed still ship to Bamako but price and time wise too expensive. Found a local steel company with a milling lathe and they cut two new ones for me in a day for about 25 pounds, they fit perfectly and initial tests have stood up to the rough roads. As for warranty issue, not sure, have emailed and am yet to receive a reply. Happy Travels - Andy Quote:
