Overheating

Howzit guys,

I've got a problem with my KTM 640, 2003 model, in that it overheats way too quickly.
My engine temperature guage sits two bars off the top. Any ideas what i need to do.

I'm also keen to get some panniers made on the cheap. Anyone got any ideas.

Thanks
Cheers

I have an 03 and it very rarely runs over 4 bars {middle} in the range. If your coolant level is ok I would check the condition of the impeller in the waterpump, this can be easily done by just removing the side cover off the pump.

Stick a therometer in the coolant and report the temp. The gauge could be screwed up.
Bill.

Two options on the overheating.....

1. ride faster and don't spend too much time in traffic or stuck in the sand!!!

2. on a more serious note, you could try fitting a 2nd fan on the right hand side of the radiator, as the fan on earlier model Advs was pathetic. I have a 00 model and have fitted a second fan which works really well.

This link has further feedback. There is also a very good post on this issue on Adv Rider.
