magadan soft luggage/Rally Raid pannier rack KTM 690

Looking for a good rack for my 690. I have ordered some Magadan (Walter Colbatch soft luggage). I like the fact the Rally Raid can accommodate Fuel cells and tool holders etc. Any one used Magadan soft luggage with this rack ? Is it a good match or would you recommend a rack such as the Touratect version. Many thanks. Ps i asked Rally Raid and they were honest (which I appreciate) they have no experience of the Magadans. They suggested i post for you opinions / feedback.

I'm presuming you're talking about pannier frames rather than a rear rack (as you would use with a roll bag).

I have Metal Mule pannier frames on my 690 Enduro, these are similar to Touratech. I can't see that open loop MM/TT frames will be as good for soft luggage as the Rally Raid version, and as you say the metal inserts on the RR frames will take a tool tube and other items.

This guy : The Rolling Hobo: KTM 690 Enduro R luggage racks with Magadan panniers. Rally Raid vs. Touratech. has magadans sitting on RR frames, and I have also seen it elsewhere on the internet.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
