Leaking front forks
First of all I had to say that I love my 2003 KTM 640 Adventure. But leaking seals on the front forks just after 1200 miles (that's twelve hundert!!), mostly on road...?!?
Anybody with similar experience? |

I just found out that KTM's warranty does NOT cover any seals!!! (at least in the USA). What are your experiences outside of USA?

Technically no manufacturers warranty covers seals - they're a "wear item".
BUT at 1200 miles no dealer with half a brain would reject a claim, nor would any manufacturer I've ever dealt with. Unless of course the 1200 miles was all in an off-road event, and even then it's arguable. Complain clearly and reasonably, (not loud and angry - get the dealer ON your side) and take it to KTM USA or Austria if needed. I'll be interested to hear how this plays out. Keep us posted. ------------------ Grant Johnson Seek, and ye shall find. ------------------------ One world, Two wheels. www.HorizonsUnlimited.com

Thanx for the response Grant. My KTM is back home, with new seals, which were installed free of charge. It took a few phone calls, but at the end Fay Myers Motorcycle World in Denver repaired the bike for free.
And by the way, most of the 1200 miles were on road, less than 100 miles of road. |
