KTM SXC Super Competition

I'm going to look at a low mileage 2004 KTM tomorrow morning with a view to spending my children's child benefit payments on a toy for myself.

It's a 625cc LC4 SXC "Super Competition" Super Enduro model

I'm familiar with the standard LC4 models and the LC4 Adventure of course but I can hardly find any information on this exact model.

Any tips/advice/info gratefully received - as far as I can see it looks like a standard LC4 (ie an Adventure without the 28 litre tank) but I'm sure it's not and I'd be happy to be better informed before I have a look in the morning

cheers

Dick

Mounting other plastics and tanks to this one is no problem, the important part of the sub frame is just as strong as well.
Only thing you should consider is the 1.2 liter oil in the engine. for any road and or traveling you should expand this to a lot more oil by adding a tank or cooler with capacity.
Also, concider adding a rear wheel with dampers to reduce stress on the gear box.

It's a good bike. But motorcross and not travel out of the box

I'm no tech but...

I think the previous post confused your 625 with the 5252 which has the 1.2 litre oil. The 625 is a solid reliable motor, but at 139kgs is not rerally a "proper" enduro bike, its just an LC4 in a hevay frame (LC4 is teh ädventure motor). Great adventure bike with trail and "soft"enduro set-up.

The SXC differs from the LC4-E and adventure
1 Keihin FCR pumper carb ( the others use the mikuni CV) so it has snappier response, but harder to tune

2 No cush drive

3 Instruments and handlebar controls

4 Depending on year it has a smaller oil circuit , pre '05 only has oil in the engine casing newer ones share the frame with LC4E

5 Free flowing exhaust ( to a degree )
