KTM 990 Service

Anyone know of a good place to get the bike serviced near Guildford, Surrey? It's the first service.

Three Counties in Bracknell is £300+ which seems quite dear and I've had no recommendations for anywhere close to home.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

If you're getting the 600 mile service done then it requires the valve clearances to be checked. It's not a difficult job, just time consuming to get the bodywork, airbox, etc stripped off. You're looking at 4-6 hrs workshop time, plus £50 or so for parts.
I've always serviced my bikes myself, but from what I've heard £300 is a typical figure for a full service inc valve check on most big bikes.

Hi Matt, Try giving Brackens a ring, one major drawback is it's South London location!

my ktm first service was done labour free only paid for parts, even major services valves, coolant fork oil engine oil, all filters, plugs etc etc and even that never cost £300.00 last time it was done in january over a three day period to fit in with there other work load and it was £220. (half price labour as its winter and they are fairly quite anyway). I think you need to try and talk more to your dealer and try and sort out a customer loyalty deal for future work.
My bike i have just sold but had very few problems over the 44000 miles I travelled on it and the dealership always wangled parts at 25% off and cheap labour rates.
problem is I am 300 mile north of you so its out of the way. Apparently the ktm dealer in north wales is also excellent but still abit of a journey.

Service Costs

£300 is about right. I went to Colwyn Bay M/cycles for mine (on an '04 950) and it was over £400, but included an MOT and a couple of parts which bumped the price up. You need to make sure that whoever does the service also completes any recall or TSB work that is neccessary.

Thanks guys.

Three Counties in Bracknell may be the closest or P+H in Croydon. Will arrange something this week and post my feedback.
