KTM 990 fuel economy

I am considering selling my trusty 640 adv and buying a 990s for a ride through canada and beyond, does anyone know what sort of fuel economy the 990 gets,i see that a 40L tank is available here in OZ.

Hi,
I'm a 950 adventure owner,usualy if you ride up to 140-150 km/h seems like 6.5-7 ltrs/100km tarmac roads,off-road 30-35% more.
hope this help you!

Cheers,
Simon

Hi,
I run a 990 EFI adventure with the standard tanks, i get between 130 -150 to the light. This is on a bike which has only done a 1000 miles so i am expecting it to get better as it loosens up. on the KTM forum guy's are getting 160 so not to bad.

Q how much are the 40ltr tanks out your way?

Must agree with Simon :funmeteryes: what a bike. maks my GSA seem sedate, and off road it's V good.

Hope this helps.

Well, in terms of gallons, the 990ADV hold 5+ gallons and I'm getting 50 miles/tank... easily over two hundred miles per tank and could get 250 miles if pushing it.

ktm 990 tanks 40L

HI Kaz

The tanks are made in Oz here and cost 1694 $ ozzie , they come in translucent, orange or black

Exerpt from Safari Fuel Tanks below
The two tanks replace the stock ones, plus the fairing shrouds. The glovebox is retained, and the black skid panels on the base of each tank are easily and cheaply replaced if damaged in a crash.

Sounds like a great alternative to a 22 L standard tank, would be great for africa where i was carrying 38 L (28+10) for a long time.
I have a safri tank on my crf450x and they are very well made and fit well, just love it when things "just fit"
cheers

and 16kms per litre on slower gravel and dry weather tracks.

ktm 990 19kpl

wow that is great economy, is that unloaded and what is your gearing.
I first gear fairly tall??

kas55 18 Feb 2008 21:21

Thanks Gazza will check them out.

lilleby 19 Feb 2008 07:03

19 kms per litre

Both outcomes with a loaded bike.
Slower gravel mainly 2nd & 3rd with a std sproket.
However I have just put a 14 tooth on and am very pleased with result.

I just bought it...oh yea it is sweet

Hi guys
Shelled out the cash and bought the 990 s, and how sweet it is , great motor , great brakes and just chews up the miles like nothing.
Passing cars is just sweet drop it down and zoom zoom, love the sound of the twin Ackers.
On a recent ride i got around the high 16 kph to high 17 kpl, fuel tank is to small but might be ok for Canada with a bit of planning.
cheers MotoGaz

990

I'm just finishing the upgrades on my 990. The Safari tanks are excellent.
I'm getting about 50mph with a usable 10+ gallons of fuel.
Shipping it to Europe in April for a planned ride East.
Twist it MAX
