Very good idea!

I'll start: here in the north of Italy there is "Spazio Moto" in Castel San Giovanni (PC)... They are not an authorized KTM assistance point, but they know _very_well_ the orange bikes(especially 4-strokes).

Unfortunately I had just bad experiences with authorized KTM mechanics here in Italy: too expensives with little know-how! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/frown.gif

In Spain I had 3 good experiences with KTM official dealers: Caspe (Zaragoza)(MOTO CASPE - CAPELLAN N 24 - 50700 CASPE), Madrid (SECOMOTO S.A. - ATOCHA N 90 - 28012 MADRID) and Granada (J.J: EXPO-MOTO S.L. - CAMINO DE RONDA N 24 - 18006 GRANADA).

Very pleasant, polite, doing their job perfectly and, last but not least, unexpensives.

Hai,

KTM dealer in the Netherlands, very good service, friendly people.

Brouwer Motors
Zwartebroek

On highway A1 take exit "Hoevelaken" near "Amersfoort".
Folow signs to "Terschuur"
After you leave the town (Hoevelaken) you have to turn left in a bend. There is a sign "Zwartebroek".
When you enter the town (Zwartebroek) just folow the road until it bend to the right and you can still go straight. Go straight, after 25 mtr on the right you'll see it. It is small, but good.

Istanbul, Turkey.

Last KTM Garage before a long way east! Speak to Selcuk, the owner in the Showroom or Bulent, the service manager in the workshop. Head Mechanic: Hussain (Supports Galatasary & likes to sing out load - not a bad voice).

True Turkish hospitality with a spattering of Turkish chaos thrown in for good measure. The mechanics are excellent & very inventive & resourceful. Despite language difficulties (use Bulent) they have a great sense of humour & care about you & your bike. Copious amounts of tea will be served & if you're around at lunchtime, you might be treated to a fine lunch with the boys. At the end of the work your dirty bike will come back gleaming after the compulsory wash & blow dry.

I would advise that when specifying the work required to Bulent, make sure this is clearly transferred to the mechanics. All work will be completed in the end, but as the garage is located about 15k's east on the Asian side, a return trip can be a drag.

Location: Approach from either east or west on the D100. If coming from European Istanbul - check out the Karakoy-Harem Ferry which can save time & long route on Bosphorus bridge - Harem is the start of the D100. Ride for about 15k's avoiding everything that swerves or toots at you, and you will see the 'Maltepe' sign. Follow this road towards for about 1.5ks through the streets (it will become a one way street) and at the 1st traffic lights to a main road, take a right. Continue up the hill for about 1.5'ks and at the 2nd set of traffic lights you will see a Peugot Garage on the left. Take the left at these lights as the workshop is around the back.

Cost: Nov 2001 - 10,000,000 TR Lira or $6.5 per hour labour + Tip. Parts - European prices.

Name: Demaks Motor ve Servis Hizmetleri (Also Ducati, Trimumph & CCM dealership).
Workshop Address: Bagdat Caddesi (Street) No. 12, Adatepe, Maltepe, Istanbul.

These guys (and gals) are the largest and main KTM dealership/workshop in Sydney. totally KTM, loads of mainly off-road bikes. Friendly and informative. No costs as such but probably cheaper than europe & us. In general bikes seem to cost about 20% less than UK.

Located in Rockdale/Banksia suburb on Princes Highway - about 10km/6m south of the city on 'Route 66!!', located on the right hand side of the road. They also have a sister-breakers who may be able to source cheap parts.

Turns out there's a KTM dealer in Lusaka Zambia as well! At the moment, they cater mostly to the scrambler/enduro crowd and the rapidly growing MX bunch, but maybe if more RTW or trans-Africa bikes were seen in Lusaka they'd start stocking LC4 and Adventure bits as well.

As it is, they have on hand some useful basics that might work out(air filters, brake pads, cables, some apparel, levers, twist grips, tyres, spokes etc) but again the parts might not fit the larger bikes. If you're really in a fix, though, hey can order what you need from South Africa.

The owners (Julie and Ray) have been riding KTMs for over 20 years, and have trained a local mechanic to fix them. I think they're moving out of their garage soon to the MX track South of Lusaka on the road to Livingstone.

Contact them at (260)-96-757-757. Give them a ring and maybe you'll decide to explore the waterfalls and wilderness of Zambia rather than just flying through it like most riders do on their way to somewhere else. There are miles of underexplored areas of this country...come have a look.

I have a brief update on the KTM Lusaka dealership posted by Hunter Nielson some 18 months ago, run by Julie and Ray Wilson.

They still cater mainly for the MX crowd, but the mechanic, Charles, performed a very thorough service on my 640 Adventure. Julie threw in lots of sandwiches & drinks while we worked on the bike, and when I accidentally snapped a crucial banjo bolt for my oil filter, they were kind enough to send their daughter Abi to chauffeur me around the various auto spares stores in Lusaka for several hours trying to find a replacement.

They are moving to new premises in the next two weeks, for which the contact details are as follows:

Julie and Ray Wilson
Ph: +260 96 757 757
Mukwa Drive
Eureka, Lilayi
Lusaka, Zambia

The new address is about 10kms before you reach the city on the road from Livingstone.

Dalby Moto in Qld, Australia

http://www.ktm.com.au/dealer.php?dealer=16

These guys have a bit of a reputation in Australia for being one of the better bike shops as well as being a KTM dealer. The owner, Craig Hartley, races the Australian Safari on his KTM Rallye (raced the '04 Aust. Safari on his KTM 950 !) and is a genuine guy.

Matt Roach 3 Aug 2005 01:58

There is a good KTM dealer in Nairobi, Kenya owned by Ian Duncan. Workshop manager and chief mechanic is Bruce.

Very very expensive for parts, but labour costs very cheap, and the service had the bike running very well. Offer to pay cash and you will avoid paying VAT on the parts.

Perill MT21s tyres are available, but cost about US$200 for the rear, slightly less for the front.

Langata.

It can be a bit tricky to find. Head out of Nairobi towards Nairobi National Park and the suburb of Karen. About five kms after the National Park, turn left at the sign pointing to the giraffe centre, ride straight for a couple of kms, and then it is a right turn into a Mobil garage in Hardy Estate.

I second the recommendation for Dalby Moto in Australia - even though I've never been to Australia. They once kindly, and correctly, diagnosed a problem on my Adventure by e-mail, quickly and politely.

KTMDave 3 Aug 2005 11:28

Do NOT use the KTM dealer in Guatemala City.

With 40,000 km on my 03 Adventure I asked them to do a general service, check all bearings, change fork oil, and tru my bent wheels.

Problems
1 When changing the oil they could only add 1.5l. i.e probably forgot the frame oil.
2 Did not replace fuel lines on tank securely. When I turned on the link hose tap I knocked the hose. It came loose pouring fuel all over the hot engine.
3 Lost the small washer between the front sprocket and conical washer. Conical washer deformed, sprocket bolt was loose and shagged the transmission o ring.
4 Cleaned the oil filter. It was bone dry without a drop of oil.
5 Tightened the front spokes to the point where they cracked the rim. $500 for a replacement.

Thank god they forgot to check the bearings and change the fork oil. When I asked how they would get the oil out the forks they pointed to the rebound adjusters at the bottom of the forks like they were drain bolts.

I found a KTM off-road tour company ýn Demerýtas, Turkey, wýth a fully equýped workshop. They maýnly work on 450s, but seem to know theýr way around an LC4 as well. Durýng summer the býkes and workshop cater for the holýday crowd ýn Marmarýs, but durýng wýnter they are based out of Demerýtas.

The workshop was run by an Englýsh expat, Chrýs, who gave me a free run of the workshop to work on my own býke. There are two Turkýsh mechanýcs as well, Aydýn & Serkan. The list can't be complete without Triple-D Motosport in the UK. The owner and head mechanic, Julian Stevens, is also the chief mechanic of David Knight, the KTM factory team rider who won the E3 enduro world championship last year.

What Julian doesn't know about KTMs isn't known, and his is the only place in the UK that I've found with the professional kit to properly strip, lower and rebuild suspension.

He doesn't allow his workshop to be fully booked so that there's always room to take care of people's 'emergencies' before an event.

Not only that, but he's a really nice guy, and always manages to find the time to make people very welcome.

Great mehanic in Pato and english speaking apprentice, Hans, know his stuff too.
They're on Bernard O'Higgins which is the main road into town, can't miss it on the right hand side 6 or so blocks into town.

These guys specialise in dirt bikes and support the regions number one rider so know they're stuff. I had my bike in there 4 days, worked on it myself plus had help from the boys (water pump seal, fork seal plus loads of other stuff) and they only charged me $100US which I thought was top notch. These guys can actually fix things and find solutions to problems rather than just replacing parts

Cheers guys,

Pete

Hiya

We came across these guys in Hungary:

Auto-Welt Dunafoldvar KFT
Eloszallasi u. 50/A
H-7020 Dunafoldvar
Hungary

I only needed a new radiator cap but they were very helpful. Think they might be quite a new KTM dealer, didn't have card facilities (we bought a few other goodies as well) but one of the girls gave us a lift into town to a cash machine (it was probably a lot easier than trying to give us directions!).

ask for Jane, she knows a lot especial the old KTM bikes.

it's a small shop/workshop 3-4 people
used to be one of the 1st KTM dealer in the UK back in 1985 they use to import KTM bikes right from the Factory and still do, even before KTM officially swamped to the UK market in orange, they are not tight up with the official KTM dealership chain.... delivered 25 KTM 350 EXG 2-strokes to the MOD/SAS in 1990....
fast mail order even internationally, but you should know the exact part-no you need if you order by phone to avoid may getting a wrong item if they have to find it in the catalog's.
Otherwise Jane is very handy to supply "nice looking paperwork" for stolidity officials..... :thumbup1:

great shop

I live in a very lucky area of the states. I am literaly down the road from KTM USA and am lucky enough to have known the Penton Brothers that first brought the bikes to the US. So I have many benifits in respect to riding KTMs
The shop that I have found to be the best is RT 20 motorsports. These guys rock!!
They are in Oberlin OHIO, on rt 20 south east of town. They can be reached at 1-440 -774-1101 AFTER 11:OO AM EASTER STANDARD TIME. They are also on the web. Ask for Jason. He can and will fix most anything on 2 wheels.:thumbup1:

Turkey; Best Mechanic in Istanbul

Hi,

I've just had my cam replaced on my 2006 KTM 640 Adventure after a catastrophic failure by a very competent mechanic. He mainly works on Jap bikes and BMW's and had never worked on a KTM before but took his time, understood how everything worked and used his seemingly infinite supply of contacts including KTM dealers, friends with KTM bikes and university lectureres to repair my bike before I head further East. It is now in better condition than when I left the UK. He now likes KTM bikes because of their ingenius simplicity.

He is located in a huge industrial estate where there is nothing but garages, bodywork shops and tool and parts shops. Whatever you need doing, can be welded, pressed, drilled or ground there!

All the people who work in the area are ridiculously friendly and the food from the small shops is cheap. Its much better than the touristy area of Istanbul, so much more genuine.

His address is Ataturk Oto Sanayi Sitesi 2. Kisim 9 Sk. No 294 Maslak, Istanbul.

KTM Bulgaria

I can report on a good workshop in Bulgaria. I needed to have the 10k service done for my 690 Enduro and they fitted me in on short notice, very friendly, nice and the service was officially registered with the KTM dealer.net (might be important for keeping your guarantee). They do speak German and English as well.

They are located right next to the highway (A1) in the near vicinity of Plovidv, Bulgaria.

GPS-Coordinates: N42 11.584 E24 39.519

(I don't have the exact address but you can find them online under KTM Bulgaria | Ready To Race) or just call Valentin 0899 11 69 89.)

They are also the official importer of KTM for Bulgaria and will probably be your best bet for locating any KTM specific parts as well as general motorbike stuff (clothing, tires, chains, ...).

P.S.: Just noticed that the place has already been reported here. I just leave the post anyway since by now I fixed most of the typos and one more positive report probably won't do any harm :)

I am planning my trip from Dubai to Europe, starting next year. This post was started 2001 (!!) and searching it for workshops is, lets call it, exhausting. Beside many may have changed or don,t even exist any longer.
Therefore I decided to create a Garmin file with the latest locations. I picked a few workshops from the post in Bulgaria and Turkey but would appreciate a confirmation. The only waypoint I can guaranty is the one in Dubai.
To organize the correspondence I created a yahoo account where details can be sent to.
Ktm.waypoints@yahoo.com where you can send the details of all known workshops. I will add them in one file and keep posting from time to time.
Prefer to receive a Garmin file (at least the coordinates) with the waypoint and, if available contact numbers and e-mail addresses.
The file shall not be limited to Europe; worldwide addresses will be entered as well. I am sure that a suitable data base can be created with the support of all bikers.

Germany near the river Rhein south-east of Bonn/Cologne !!!

not a KTM dealer but the near by "Cycle Point West" and Royal Enfield representative, the sort of brilliant workshop that can fix any bike, rat-bikes, chopper, Enduro, racer you name it, very friendly guys real biker folk and there heartbeat still pumping petrol at the right place in there chest, sort of guys as we miss them out this days, I was able to do some work on my own in the yard, after a while working the time away in the midday heat they demanded me to push the bike on to there ramp in to the workshop, for comfort so we fixed my bike together in no time (in the mechanics lunch time brake) grate fun with cold beer... I'm very gratefully that I meed this guys... again thanks to you, you saved the day... and the trip...

some pictures and text in German of the trip here (it's the web page of my German riding buddy - he is a HUBBer too)
Schotter, Gräber und Gepäck – Generalprobe in Frankreich | buebo.de

Unfortunately the nearby KTM dealer in Sankt Augustin where I bought the parts I needed, was a right pain in the a**, didn't want to do the job and told me to come back in two weeks time !?
Bike was fully loaded on a trip to France and had no time to loose !
The SLS plug of my LC4 was gone and madly blowing, made a hell of a noise and no good to ride any longer in dense populated areas... luckily there where no cops on the roads, must have been at lunch ...

the best workshop I came across so far is this one:

Hi Hunter,

we intend to travel through Sambia next summer (2015) with 3 KTM 690. Is there still the KTM-Tech in Lusaka ? Think we need new tires after 3000 km´s and some services.

Thanks for your answer in advance.
