Tyre lube?
 

Thought that might get your attention. Seriously though, is there anything you can treat tyres with to stop them cracking. Don't know whether it's the cold or the wet, but all my tyres seem to crack long before they wear out.

On another note, I ran down to the metal on my last set of pads and scored the front brake disk, and now, even with a broken in set of pads, the brakes are still rubbish. Would a few groves in the front disk cause that much loss of braking?

What tyres are you using ? How long (time wise) does this start to occur ??

Are you running them at super low pressures or over inflating them ??

Unless you're using some really cheap crap illegal tyres, they shouldn't crack..

Can you post a picture of the cracking ?

All my tyres always crack. PSI is always correct. I was looking at my mates bike over the weekend and his were cracked too. Currently I have the stock tyre on the front and a Distanzia on the back. I assumed it was caused by extreme changes in temperature. Also, my tyres tend to get quite bumpy before they wear out, so I tend to replace them while they still have a bit of meat on them.

That's pretty normal with dramatic temperature change... It also looks like you're running knobblies too which adds to it, especially riding tarmac with them.

As long as the carcus isnt showing and the cracks arnt much bigger than that, I wouldnt worry about it too much....

Using offroad tyres on tarmac is ALWAYS going to cause this...

You should of seen my Karoos's after 3000 of tarmac. They looked like they had been been attacked by a pack of wolfs.
