KLE 500 soft panniers

Any recommendations appreciated, particularly throver ones that fit without having to put anything else onto the bike to protect the pannier from the exhaust. They do not need to be very big and will only be for occasional use.

Thanks

Have you thought about a magnetic tank bag? Easy to use and no frame necessary.

I have got one, the tank bag and tail bag I put on the pillion seat and the top box gives me 100 litres of space. I could do with a bit more.

I thought I would share the pannier frame project I've been busy with recently.

I needed a simple solution to secure my Oxford soft luggage to the bike. Bought luggage racks was not a option as they are far to expensive, so I went the el-cheapo route. I started off by having a rear aluminium luggage rack 450mm (W) by 350mm (L) by 6mm thick waterjet cut for me. I then made two frames using 16mm by 16mm square tubing. I also had 30mm loops welded onto the brackets to use with cam-buckle straps to secure the Oxford bags. There is a cross bar between the brackets for support. Lastly I had the whole lot powdercoated black.

I tried it out and it is very sturdy and secure. The Oxford bags are very secure and do not sag or shift around. I'm quite chuffed with the end result. It just shows that you don't have to spend a fortune on a luggage solution for the KLE.

Let me know what you think. See pics attached.

An oven glove stuck along the bottem of the pannier where it sits on the exhaust does the job.

Hi

I've got a pair of ortlieb panniers.

Ortlieb Waterproof Motorcycle Panniers (Pair)

I've made a bracket for exhaust clearance out of 50 x 3 stainless flat bar. I drilled and tapped the alloy luggage rack side to mount this bracket.

Cheers,

Rory
