Rear Brake Caliper for KLR

My son and I have just obtainewd a pair of KLR's at very reasonable prices. His is a 2003 with 30,000 km and mine is a 2004 with 7000km.

It appears that the fellow who had the 2004 tried some diy work on the bike and as a result I need to purchase a new rear brake caliper assembly. I never would have thought that in a city with no less than 3 Kawasaki dealers that this part would be so elusive.

At the minute the part is on back order with no ETA from Kawasaki. Does anyone know of a compatible assembly or an aftedr market manufacturer.

All replies appreciated.

Rick

Why would you need a whole caliper?

BTW: I can airmail you an overhauled second hand one but I'm sure you can fix yours.

Thanks for the offer

The caliper assembly comes as a single unit from Kawasaki. THe bike which I purchased is missing the inside housing and the cup for the Hydraulic works.

As i said it looks like the original owner tried to do some homw repairs and then gave up.

I appreciate your offer of a rebuilt unit however I have contacted the original owner am hoping that he can dig up the missing parts.

Thanks again it sucks having a bike in my yards that I can't ride.

Still got 90%

Riq,
The way you tell this, you still have the front brake for 90-95% of your overall braking effort; no problem to ride therefore!! :rolleyes2:

That's rubbish!

Check here for the part numbers:

I have ordered from them before (with delivery to SA). Fast and efficient.

BTW: Any KLR rear caliper since 1987 will fit even the European KL650C

Thanks for the link

I managed to purchase a rear caliper c/w pads on ebay for $65 U.S. so I think I am set for know. Thanks for the link the online fiche will make it much easier to order parts than trusting the partsman behind the counter.
