My KLR front brake piston packing is disintegrating. In other words, the heat resistant material on the top of the brake piston has collapsed on one side meaning that the front brake is always rubbing and the pads are wearing diagonally.
I've put some liquid metal on the other side as a patch but I can't believe this will last. On the older KLR's you could replace the piston but it now seems that you have to replace the whole caliper at a cool $400. And it means that I have to wait while it gets shipped to me...... Any suggestions guys? Or does anyone know of a non Kawasaki caliper that might be a bit cheaper. btw.... I'm probably going to replace the rotor as this has now been warped by the problem so resizing rotor solutions are fine by me..... Last edited by IanElsley; 6 Oct 2007 at 02:18.
