I ground off the three small welds that hold the end cap in place. I then cut off the small diameter pipe that is the extension of the perforated tube at a point just outside the circular weld. All up about 50/60mm ...2.5 inches approx.
This I'm sure helps with the exhaust breathing particularly in the higher rev range. I cannot detect any improvement in performance but I'm sure there would be a small improvement. Sounds more muscular but not noisy. I loath noisy exhausts but I love a good note.
A good little project and I'm pleased with the result.

Billy, I've been elsewhere and am selling my V Strom and Z650 so the KLE will soon be my only bike.
I recently looked at the fork air valves for the first time.
I released the very little air that was in them and added 4 pumps each with a bicycle pump. The forks have radically changed and now feel perfect, something I could never achieve on the V Strom. I'm VERY pleased with the stock forks with 4 pumps each using the bicycle pump. Must go but will watch this forum now regularly.

Yep, not a huge following, but then the KLE500 wasn't a big volume seller.

I pop in here now and then.

Not really, bits and pieces now and then on ADV.

They were only a minimal seller and greatly underrated.

People don't know what they missed.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
