KLR650 progressive rear shock blown (in Bolivia)

Hi!

It is the second time. The first time we broke down in Colombia and imported a Progressive rear shock for around 700USD from the US.

Now I am frustrated as the new one in Argentina cost 1000 USD.

Do you know how to repair a progressive rear shock? Is it possible? I know it is possible with a standard factory rear shock.

Please let me know, as it could save me hundreds of dollars that I would need to borrow....

I am heading towards Argentina, next bigger city: Salta.

Cheers

what is broken exactly? Just the spring or the damper/piston? Springs should not be repaired in my opinion, but new ones can be obtained for around 100-150 euros.

The damper/piston can usually be services/repaired by an expert, but I guess it depends how bad it is damaged.

Not all factory shocks are serviceable or repairable, but most aftermarket shocks are. What brand did you get?

It is progressive suspension shock. The oil from the piston leaked out. Now I am in Mendoza (Argentina) and will try to get a second hand one or try to repair this one, but even if the mechanic is great he will need some parts. This can be a problem...

Cheers
