KLR600 any good?
Hi! Someone´s selling a low-mileage 1984 KLR 600 with broken kickstarter really cheap, is this bike any good? I should think it isn´t as the kickstarter has already broken off, but any advice?

Hi Eduard,
Its a good bike if you like to get your hands dirty. I've got a 1985 KLR600 with an electric starter. I've just put in a new piston (oversize). There are some problems with the balancer mechanism chain becoming slack and damaging the guides, so check for noises which may be a loose chain in the engine. Otherwise, a great bike to live with, easy to fix - lots of parts available and plenty of infos available. All the best, Bal. |

I would stick to the more common and still in production KLR 650. Unless you get a smoking deal.

The 1984 KLR is a BEAST!!!!
I Owned one at the ripe old age of 18 and roded the PISS out of it. Never had a problem with the machine other than your normal stuff. Friend had a 85 and had problems with it GO 84 without the electric start. you will love it.
