That is something I have to figure out about some of these posts. Although I dont have as much experience riding as many people in here, I have put quite a few miles on various small engines, from quads to 350 yamaha xt's and such, honda 80. Ive always found that if you drive it reasonable, change the oil regular, and the various maintenance like chains and sprockets, the bike would last a long long time. If I bought a bike, and only put 40000 km on it and the engine would have to be rebuilt, I would be really dissapointed...

I suppose a lot of it comes down to how it's ridden... two identical(??) bikes new will feel and age quite differently depending on how they're ridden. Some people are disinclined to do any preventative maintenance too, which only shortens the life of the bike even more. Whatever works for people, i suppose.
