KLR Subframe Upgrade
Hi all,
I have drilled out my subframe and have put my bike back together and everything seems great. I did find that I had some wiggle room for the bolt when I put it through, not too much though. Think that the wiggle room is from when my drill jumped around a few times. What is everyone elses experience on this? Think it will pose a problem? Mitch. |

IMHO the 10mm drill through is overkill. You can just as well drill out the 8mm thread to 8.5mm, then cut an M10 thread and drill the hole in the subframe to 10.2mm. Saves the tedious task to drill through the solid
part of the KLR backbone, works just as well and is done like that on the 2008 KLR.You can also use 12.9 high ten cap screws M8x30 like me, threadlock them and replace after a serious fall. Never had any issues. |
