KLR Availability Europe

In view of the ringing endorsements by all and sundry, I have started to get interested in the idea of a new KLR650 only to find that they are generally no longer available in the UK or the rest of the EU - something to do with emissions regs. The only exception is Greece, which is impractical. Is there any reasonable way to get hold of a new one from the UK?
Neil.

Hi Neil,
I'm not too clued up on new ones. If you're interested in SH there are some newish ones (2003) available in Germany (www.mobile.de) that have about 5k miles and go for approx. £3000. If you need any help on the import side of things, drop me a line. I've brought over quite a few bikes now, including my KLR.
All the best,
Bal.

Thanks, Bal. I have myself brought a bike in from Denmark before , without any drama. In fact I think I'm on the way to cracking it re a KLR. Greece still sell them (in black/silver) - for €4,400 (= approx £3150)as exports. This situation may last only for another year, however. Shipping by road from Athens to Woolwich costs approx £230. The bike comes with a European Certif of Conformity and ostensibly will need only headlight and speedo conversion here (available from wreckers?). Incidentally, I've located a chap at VOSA in Bristol (himself a biker) who has been very helpful in all this.
Cheers,
Neil.
