KLR Auxilery lighting

Something's missing on the front of my KLR. The panniers dress up the back real nice, but from the front it looks like a dirt bike. I think a couple of Piaa's mounted up front would fix things up nicely. I realize that the alternator would need upgrading, that's fine. Has anyone ever added auxilarys to their KLR's? How did you do it? Does a kit exist? Thanks for your time.

With the stock stator, you only have about 80 extra watts for anything. Im told the rickystator.com stator makes a little over 200 extra watts. Having said that, I have ran two cheap 50 watt per light off orad lights and never had trouble. (The battery never seemed weak when I went to start the bike.) Check klr650.net, there is more searchable topics on there than you could read in a life time, and this has been a very common topic.

Electrically speaking the KLR comes up a bit short. I have heated handgrips that get warm. Or I can warm up my electric vest (note I did not say hot) but not both. Electrex makes both a stator upgrade and a rectifier upgrade. MCN used it on their project bike and liked it. I do both the stator and rectifier if I was serious about adding anything electrical. They are at www.electrexusa.com
