KLR 650 engine rattle
I have a 2005 KLR with 7,000 miles of the clock. recently it has developed an engine rattle between 3 & 4,000 rpm. The rattle does not affect performance just irritates the mangos off me.
I am based in Liberia, west Africa without access to m/c workshops or mechanics. Any ideas before I dismantle top end? cheers |

There are so many things which cause rattles and vibrations in KLR's that it could be almost anything. Mine has 72k miles (120k km), and has rattled and shaken and clanged and clanked right from the start.....but my doohickey went at 12,000 miles and cost me money, time and energy as I began a long trip. Take care of it, then see how things sound. That's $0.02. Hope it helps. Mark |

That's what I was thinking. My spring was toast at 1000 miles. The possibility, although slim, is to go ahead and do the adjustment. Maybe the spring still works. Stranger things have happened. Have you done a valve check?
