KLE500 rear brake pedal

I am seeking advise from anyone who may have had the same problem. I have dropped the bike onto its right side once :oops2:and had the wind knock it over onto the right as well. Both times the rear brake pedal was bent and pushed hard into the cover, so much it could not be moved. Once removed it proved hard to straighten out without heat.
As I will probably drop it again at some point, will the engine crash bars provide a higher clearance to save the bent brake lever? The wind drop also gave me a shorter front brake lever, but I like it better that way.

I had a bent rear brake pedal on a kle 500 too, what I did was to bend it back using a huge plier. When that does not work I take the rear brake pedal out, (it is only one bolt that holds it in place) put it on a bench clamp and then bend it back. No heat required.
I do have the crash bars, by the way, and they don't seem to make much of a difference. On the other hand, my rear brake pedal was still movable after each drop, but I think that depends on the severity of the drops also.
