KLE500 Gear ratios

I'm thinking of going with 16T/44T. Has anyone tried this combination?

Any other combinations worth looking at? I'm looking for smoother gearing at low speeds. I don't mind sacrificing top speed.

What are the pros/cons of a smaller front sprocket versus a bigger rear?

Cheers.

personally i find 16/44 to low for on road use causes alot of vibes due to higher revs and the closer ratios i find i'm shifting more than i like. i find purely on road use 17/42 is ideal and the wider gears suit the bikes torque curve. If mostly doing alot of serious offroad then 16/44 is ideal

Hi matey, personally I wouldn't mess with the original gearing, as I think it's pretty much spot on for on- and off-road.

If you lower the gearing you'll be in top gear by about 40mph.

1 tooth less on the front is about the same as adding 3 on the rear, and visa versa.

Hope this helps

Presently I'm fit with 16/43.feel ok,the bike is more touristic oriented.Could be as well as 16/42.

Thanks for replies. I might try out a couple of diffent rear sprockets, if the chain will accommodate it.

Original is 44/17.

I went 44/16 and found it was much better with no real adverse affect on economy.
