KLE oil leak

Hi
Anyone know what is most likely causing this oil leak? I'm having trouble removing the belly pan - some of the bolts are seized in the frame - so if it's a big job I was thinking of just leaving it in to my local bike shop.

Probley used loctite on the bolts (I do) - Just use a socket with a long extension bar or link a couple of ring spanners together to get more leverage and force it until they undo. You will not wreck anything as the bolts are in steel and the bolt will strip before the thread in the frame will - but I doubt either will happen - they will come loose with enough force.

Gee I thought kle engines dont leak - I have not seen a leak on em yet. Is it using oil noticeably? If so you definitely have a serious leak.

The leak visually is under the water pump but that may mean nothing, and you would probley leak coolant before oil. Doubt it would be a case leak.

You really just need to get the pan off clean it all up - take it for a ride to get hot and park it on concrete and watch for leaks...

Dont waste your money with the shop, just rip that bash plate off...If necessary re-tighten case bolts with a small socket/spanner to avoid stripping bolts.

It isn't losing oil noticeably. That is a build up over several weeks, so hopefully you're right about used loctite. Last oil change I overfilled it a bit - I wonder could that be the cause.

So did you work out what it was?
From your picture I would guess the seal on the drain plug - but then you would see oil everywhere I guess.
What did you do?

I've been too busy (and lazy) to tackle it, but today is the day - hopefully. I'll post my findings.

Yes, I reckon if the seal on the drain plug was gone there would be oil all over the ground too.

I couldn't figure out where that leak was coming from. There are several bolts in that area which were all covered in oil. I cleaned everything up and will keep an eye on it.

The water pump has a void between the coolant and oil seal with a pressure relief bore connecting the void to the outside world. The oil seal starts to pack it. Replace.

If you've got problems to get the belly pan off let the bike shop deal with it!

Since I posted the above the oil leak has mysteriously stopped, but now I have a very small coolant leak. Only difference is I did an oil change, and I think I overfilled last time.
