KLE newbie

Hello all,

I'm Thomas, a new member and recently bought my first bike.
It's a KLE 500 (2005, 22K KM, black with copper)

It was love @ first sight, price was good (less then $3k) and not a bad choice for a novice. This forum is awsome and have been reading without end, so much usefull information !

I made a list(s) of to do's (farkles yes ) before I take it on the road/gravel/...

Short list (done)
- exhaust -> GRP trevale
- airfilter -> K&N
- risers -> rox anti-vibe risers
- handlebars & grips -> acerbis phat bar & renthal grips (black ones)
- hand guards -> zeta armor + XC guards
- crash bars -> jama (= laser)
- 12v plug
- relocate horn
- custom radiator grill

Short list (to do)
- 5cm more ground clearance (new dogbones in the making)
- enduro foot pegs
- find usable mirrors
- HID conversion
- progressive front springs
- replace steel front brake line (much to long) & replace OEM rear
- adapt sadle

Long term list
- upgrade suspension front & rear
- custom header pipes (custom headers) + jetting

Because it's a second hand bike I will start my maintenance program from scratch. Please not that I never worked on bikes/cars/... so please bear with my and forgive rookie mistakes, bad purchases, ...

Done
- engine oil (BR EXP)
- coolant (BR moto chill)
- oil filter (OEM) & spark plugs (NGK DR9EA)
- fresh tires (2x conti trail attack 2)

To do
- check valve-clearance
- fork oil (BR High Performance)
- brake fluid (BR Super DOT4)

Btw, after doing some work...bike was dead

....took me +10min to notice the ignition switch was in off position (new handlebar).

Then it started (phieuw) but did not run.. (wwwwwwwwwwtf)....
.....15 more minutes thinkering to set it on 'reserve' and WROEEEEMMMMM

I learn as I go

Ps. thanks for reading ! (and sorry for my bad English)
Pss. pictures ASAP

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
