KLE modified seat

I've had my seat modified by Roy at Bootleg Bike Seats in Preston. He scooped the rear of the rider perch to make it flatter and widened the front of the seat, then fitted a new cover that matches the original - it's much more comfortable now. A permenant solution for less than the price of an Airhawk seat. Contact Roy at Bootleg Bike Seats - Contact Us

Looks good, how much did that cost you and how long did it take.

Did you leave your bike with him?

Im not far from preston, so would be handy for me.

I dropped him the seat off, and went to pick it back up two weeks later - but I guess if you wanted to be off the road for less time book it in well in advance and they could probably turn it round in a couple of days. Cost - you will have to speak to them about your specific needs ( could specify any colour for instance), but I payed less than the cheapest Airhawk seat, bloody good value I think. I think you can see from the photo's it's a real pro job, I was realy pleased when I went to pick it up.:D

Cheers for that, I will have to get mine sorted.

Give us a report after a ride out.

Kind regards
Roy

That looks seriously good, and is just down the road from me....
The standard slopey forward seat is a bit of a nuisance on longer runs.

Jedkel 12 Apr 2008 19:03

does it work ??

Roy to answer your question :
I've just done 200 miles today (:stormy:sh*t weather)with several stops and I never even noticed the seat -also did a couple of longish runs in the evenings last week , its comfortable for me for about 90 minutes. The horrible sliding forward feeling has gone. On the downside the sidewall of the seat is begining to crease and may eventually crack. Nothing to do with the quality of the work - but anyone thinking of getting something similar done may be best of having thicker vinyl used. Overall defo worth it for me, absolutely hated the seat before.

royzx7r 13 Apr 2008 13:54

Cheers for that dude.

Glad its made a difference to you, I hated my seat but I think its started to soften up a bit now coz the past few rides were ok on my rear.

Because its narrow, I find it rides up your rear thus making for an less then happy experience. Or mabey Its just my big ass!!!!!

Anyway, I will get mine sorted in the winter...oh hang on, its still like winter here init????

Sorry, can't do a before and after as I never took a photo before, and the original was used for the mods.

royzx7r 14 Mar 2009 12:33

Took my seat to Bootleg yesterday to be altered. Will post some pics when I get it back. (about a week)

Having the rise taken back 6" and widened at the front. I was thinking of an air hawk..ive heared they are good but bloody hell, they are so expensive for what they are.

This should cost me £35 if they can re-fit the existing cover.

Pics soon

Got out on the bike today, first ime since getting the seat back.

Just had the raise cut back 6inches, Im happy with the difference coz I was always sat on that damm hump and never comfy. Did about 80miles today with no problems.

They put my original cover back on, so it dont look much different to before. There is not much of a pillion perch now so bear that in mind if you are thinking of a change but take pillion.

Im off to the Isle of Skye in scotland for the week on the bike in may, this should be a good test.

Kind regards
Roy

I've done well over 5000 miles ( half of them two up ) on the seat I had modified by Bootleg bike seats. The split I thought may develop never did. Quality work - recommended.

Enjoy Skye Roy - nowhere better when the suns shining.

the allyn air saddle is cheap alternative to the air hawk. I've had mine for a while and it does the job.

Hi guys :)

I just picked myself up a 2005 KLE last night, done 2,700km and looks like it just rolled out of the dealers :)

..however the SEAT needs some work!

Could you gents kindly re-post some pics of your modded seats please so I can get some idea of what they look like? I'm down in New Zealand so bootleg aren't much help to me.

cheers
Tracy
