kle lighting fault help??

my 2006 kle500 has lost the tail, numberplate, and front 5w pilot light, all connectors seem ok, the 10A fuses are all good, Any suggestions?
Am trying to find a common power supply to them, this may well be the ignition switch, so am going to have to rip the whole thing apart, unless anyone can give me a pointer towards a common problem?

Sounds like the side light power supply i presume your lights switch on via the handlebar switch you will have a large power supply going into the handlebar switch which should be 12v+ check this then there will be the common for the side lights coming out of there check that i would imagine the problem will be in the handlebar switch. common problem is the soldered connections fail or even corrosion get's to contacts.

PM me if you need more help.

After much buggeration, you may well be right.

I gave up, and soldered in another wire, bypassing the faulty wiring. the main power feed to the lighting fuses from the ig switch was fine, but stopped working when it goes to and from the bars after the fusebox. so i just hard wired it after the 10amp lighting fuse. sorted. in a bodgetastic kind of way.

cheers Brian, jingle bollox and all that nonsense!!!!

Hi i just got a 2006 KLE500, when i go from low beam to high beam the low beam light (left one) goes out so only the high (right) is left on. Is that how its meant to work?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum maddog87.
Your lights are operating correctly. Low beam goes off when high beam is on.
Cheers

ok thanks for that so do you know the reason why it works like? and can it be changed so both can be on when high beam is?

Easy fix if you follow the wiring diagram...

May I suggest a 35W HID conversion to reduce the overall current draw of two 55W globes on high beam though?

Two get both lights working on high beam, I did this:

1. buy a 12V 20A relay and some additional wire (matching colours for your existing loom if you like!) and an inline fuse.

2. splice into both the high and low beam supply wires near the existing globes.

3. Run a supply wire (fused close to the battery) to up behind the instrument cluster/headlight (This supplies the low beam when the relay is pulled in by the high beam circuit).

4. Wire the high beam active wire to the activating terminal on the relay.

5. Wire the switched supply from the relay to the low beam active wire.

6. Wire an earth wire to the relay.

The relay mounts nicely up behind the headlight assembly.

Take it out at night and enjoy the lighting brilliance...

Cheers
Ian
