KLE front brake upgrade anyone?

Hallo everybody.
Have anyone upgrade the front brake?on his KLE? and what has he done?
Does a front brake pump from another bike (e.x trnasalp) fits on our KLE?
Thanks.:clap::thumbup1:

There are previous posts about the brakes.

I think the problem is more to do with the amount of dive in the forks that give the impression of poor brakes.

Without doubt, fit stainless brake lines. You can upgrade your discs and pads also but try putting 8-10 psi in your forks with a bicycle pump. This will make the world of difference.

The combination of all the above works for me. Some have fitted progressive fork springs that offer massive improvment.

Like I said, Check the earlier threds and you will find links and part Numbers etc...

Hope this helps:clap:

There not that bad when you use HH pads as alot of sports bike riders found out at Mallory Park :mchappy:

sorry i forgot to write that it has stainless brake lines and wp springs at the forks.

Definitely braided lines and better pads! The stock caliper is fairly crappy but I dont think there are alternatives that will fit.

If you really still were not happy enough a slightly bigger (pretty sure thats how it works) brake master cylinder (where your lever attaches) would make it bite harder/quicker but reduce some modulation/feel. Eg Brembo one off a road bike etc.

Although I have a 320mm disc on mine with one finger braking performance!

Hi jimmy101.
What brand is front brake disk 320mm that you use on your kle 500? Where did you get it from? How much does it costs?

Hi Rohirim

I've also got a braided front brake line on my KLE, and find it inadequate.

You may get a bit more braking power using a smaller master cylinder, at the expense of more brake lever travel. Find out which master cylinders have smaller pistons than the KLE, and then check on the Goodridge brake hose website if they have the same banjo bolt size as the KLE.

I'm going to rather change my caliper - I've bought a Nissin 4 pot left brake caliper from a Triumph Sprint 955i, which I'm going to try and fit at some stage. I'll need to get an adapter bracket machined first. I've seen a similar setup using these calipers on the Kawasaki Versys.

I'll post some pictures and info when I get it done - it's going to take a while as I'm quite busy at the moment. If it works I'll be happy to send out the drawing for the adapter so others can do the same.

Cheers, Rory

Did anyone progress this? I'd be interested in which caliper fitted without too much faffing.

Stock brakes

yes, not the best.

I added some HEL lines, an EBC front disc and a set of HH pads. Improved and almost passable. I just cant ride it like I stole or as hard as I would want to. Then agan its an old rat bike anyhow.

4-pot from Yamaha R6, with blue covers looks like it would fit without much trouble...
