My mechanic told me that he has put an Versys engine on a KLE 500 02 mod. he did some mods for the fuel pump to fit in the tank.i believe him, but i haven't see the bike because it was sold in another city (thessaloniki)

Hmmm.. I was thinking about it but I think it maybe too tall with downdraft throttle bodies being very hard to fit.... woul dbe interested to know if that mech did actually fit it in?

the gpz engine will go straight in a kle frame but you need to either use a gpz wiring loom and cdi as well or to get the rotor/flywheel and generator cover off the kle and into the gpz. the rotor pick up points and cdi unit thingy all need to match.
im having a go at the moment.
got an old kle in the yard and have the engine in ok. just trying to work out how to adapt the back light socket as the gpz back light is wired differently and the loom needs adapting to fit the kle back light. . ..
been having fun messing about with it anyway . .

nathan

jeez, guys; it'd be cheaper and less hassle to rebuild the engine you've got, wouldn't it?

Er5 engine in a kle

Hi. Just wanted to give an update.
I have just put an er5 engine in my 07 kle. It had done a lot of miles and was leaking oil etc so replaced it with a low mileage er5 engine. I had to take the flywheel out of the kle and the generator cover and windings to go with it but it started first time and runs a treat.
Only issue is the gears are back to front with one up the rest down and I need to manufacture a gear lever as the er5 one doesn't fit. I have just got used to riding it as is.....
