KLE cat location.

The KLE has three catalytic converters, two in the pipes and one in the muffler. Can anyone tell me where the two are located in the exhaust? I am thinking it may be possible to remove and replace the sections of pipe containing the cats thereby freeing up a few extra HP.

When I checked the specs for KLE's from 91 to 06 I found it had lost 6 HP (50HP in 91, 48 in 04 and 44 in 06). I don't think much else has changed so I am presuming the major part of the loss is in the pipe. I know I can add a new free flowing muffler but this may be a simpler solution.

Can anyone tell me if I should not go this way?
