[quote=mollydog;222423]Well Nigel,
What do YOU think the problem could be? Have you thought about it at all?

Has the bike been sitting long?
Was it running OK last time you had it out?
Is this YOUR bike and do you know the starting procedure?

Does it have Kick stand, Clutch in, In Gear safety lock outs switches?

Do you know what these switches do and how they work?

How old is the battery?

Is the bike parked out side out inside?

Details Details Details. Can't help without them!

Not many here are mind readers!

yes my kle 500 was running well untill now and yes it is my bike and i have had it for 2 years yes it dose have a kick stand and it dose not have safety lock ouy switches that i now off and i have put a new battery on it and it is parked in my shed there is no power going to the starter motor

Hi there guys

First time here on the forums.
I have just recently encountered a really sad happening with my KLE 500 (2005). On the way to work on the highway cruising at about 120 km/h, my bike just slowly started to lose its power. so i decided to slow down and pull over to the side of the road. There was a really loud and heavy "knocking" sound when i lightly revved to get an idea of what was happening.

Turns out my motor seized up due to lack of oil, which i am actually quite adamant on checking.

Anyways, so this is gonna cost me a huge wad of cash (R18 000) to repair, as all the bearings need replacing, as well as, Crank, Conrod, all gaskets and seals, clutch plates, and so fourth.

I just thought that maybe it would be easier to locate a complete running 2nd hand motor, but that is proving to be more difficult than i thought.

I live in South Africa, Johannesburg.

Anybody got any ideas on what i can do ? Desperate for help !!!

Well Nigel, you've had some excellent advice there. Let Patrick know how it turned out - is it OK now? What was the problem?

It'd be nice if you told your helpers how it's going.:thumbup1:

ASAP, thanks.

breaking your kle??

hi, sorry to be a vulture, but if you do decide to break your kle and sell off the parts i would gladly take the locking panel off your hands for a reasonable fee?? I('vebeen after one for ages.

Speak to Jurgen at Le Cap. You will find his details on the web. Ask him if the KLR motor might fit. He will have some ideas for you as well.
