KLE 500 - Sidestand?
 

Hey guys,

I am just wondering if you are also experiencing some troubles with a KLE 500 fully packed and the sidestand. On my Norway trip I always had to look for little hole on the parking spot or for a little steepness to put my KLE.
I was thinking of putting a little stick on the other side, but thats way to painful everytime.
Is there another sidestand which could fit the KLE better. Or should I ask a mechanic to shorten it and weld a bigger plate on it?

I have had exactly the same problem but I don't have a solution for it.
I was wondering if you have any pictures of your kle in norway, and any advice as I am off there this summer.

seems to be a standard kle fault, I have not looked into fixing mine yet, but i suspect oxy-acetylene and a mallet may be involved... then weld a small extension on.

Ok then I will go and shorten it in the next couple of months... I will tell you about the results.... hope to find a cheap welder around here.

here is a gallery of the twin500 which I am managing. Just click left and right...all the pictures with Micki Scandinavia are from there. I really like the Lofoten island but of course its quite a distance (Trondheim - Narvik 950km). Else the Trollstiegen including the way to get there and leave is great. If you go to the Lofoten try no to take on both way the E6 but go on the coast (2 ferrries).

Is this not indicative of the suspension static sag being too great.

It would seem that you need to beef up the spring rate a bit. If the bike is sitting low at a standstill, it is unlikely that the suspension would behave as it should on the move; you have used up a good bit of the travel just by loading it.

Would you expect to have the same spring on a bike ridden by a 7 stone child and an 18 stone bloke.

Just my 2p's worth

the rear suspension has about 4" of vertical adjustment, on it's lowest setting (for my girlfriend to ride, and me to commute to work) it leaves the bike a bit close to vertical on the sidestand. the stand foot is a bit close to the centre of gravity in the vertical sense, so I doesn't take much of a breeze to set it rocking.
when the suspension is jacked up, it is a bit better, but still not good enough.

Yeah I also found the stand was not giving my kle a good lean angle, one time I got off and as I was walking away the wind gave a little burst which was enough to push it right over
:(

when I raised the "speny" up I found the lean angle was much better:thumbup1:

So I would try that...

Now onto my 17k service - :mchappy:

I am practicing more Motor X style riding and cornering on some off road land near Barcelona. Its a big bike but I feel I should be learning more riding skills clutch control for weelies etc.
