Help! I think my KLE is restricted...

I got a bandit recently and now I'm going mad trying to get a bit more power out of my KLE. It's very strangled under revvs. I know the KLE isn't the fastest bike on the planet, but I think mine is under performing.

Anyway, a couple of questions:

Firstly, do Kawasaki do factory restricted KLEs?

Secondly, what are all these bits and bobs, and where might they be hiding in my motorcycle? (That is an F1 restrictor kit for an 05 KLE)

Cheers

Hi
I don't think they ever made a factory restricted KLE although the later 05> models do have a smaller airbox inlet and leaner jetting (see the tuning thread). If you think it might have the FI (33hp) restrictor kit you need to remove the carbs and look in the rubber intake manifolds if there like a big washer in there it is restricted (they can just be pulled out) if not then i think your just trying to compare it to the bandit too much afterall there completely different

As for the bits and bobs the 2 middle parts are the suspension "dogbones" look under the bike at the linkage can't miss them. As for the other bits i can't say

Ahh! The pic must be of a lowering kit. F1 do them too. They must have misfiled it.

I'll go check my carb.

Thanks Shaun.

Newer kle's are severely restricted by the airbox inlet and stupid headers with cats in them, less so the exhaust. Getting a custom header made up made a "huge" difference.....without even jetting and it was running lean!! Once jetted, well its going great.

Probably a dumb question but can you not just rip the cat out of the manifold?

And another dumb question, why can't you just drill holes in the airbox? I don't understand what the pvc pipe brings to the party.
