Back to the future KLE500

What year is this model KLE? (Sorry it's a link but I can't post pics on this site)

My reg says 05 but when I order parts they don't fit. The sales assistant in M&P seems to think it's 06, but that's impossible…

Looks like mine and that's a 56 plate!:innocent:

easy get frame number and ring "corby kawasaki2 in uk. they are great dealer and fast. they will tell you the year of manufacture from the frame number.

what parts you get that dont fit? never go from the reg plate always 1-2 years up on the year of make

The rear sprocket was too big (I'd already shortened the chain), so I had to take the wheel off and put the old sprocket back on…

Normally I wouldn't go by the reg, but I knew for a fact the bike couldn't have been pre 05, but I wasn't expecting it to be later. I'll give Corby a bell on Monday. Do you order parts off them too?

ya ordered a lot of them before for an enduro bike and they may not be the cheapest but are unreal helpfull. they will be selling all genuine parts though so will be dear.

as for the sprocket was it too large to on onto the wheel or just too big for the chain?

very easily could of had the wrong sprocket on the bike initally when you got it.

also most garages will have a full list of what sprokets and chains are for each bike, just ask. send me a pm for my number if you want to get more help or ask anything

Sprocket had too many teeth = less acceleration, so I was happy enough holding off for a smaller one. M&P sent me a replacement at no extra cost – fair play to them, because it wasn't even their fault. So I have a new 46 tooth sprocket if you want it.

mine are ok for the moment, i would hand on to it as it would be a good sprocket for off roading, give you bit more torque

More teeth on the rear sprocket = better acceleration, lower topspeed
Less teeth on the rear sprocket = less acceleration, higher topspeed

Oh yeah…duh… I was thinking of front sprockets. I'd already pulled links off the chain so it made no difference anyway, but nice to know these things for the future. Might hang onto that spare rear sprocket for next time so.
