smyril line ferries useless website

Hi, ive previously managed to navigate my way around Smyril lines ferry booking website, but recently its proving to be a pain to use. I cant seem to get the drop down boxes to open properly on the page with the cheap ferry dates, it previously had all months on it but now only has daft dates, some of which are return before leaving dates!

Anyway, has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know of an alternative way to book the tickets?

Cheers, Dan.

I gave up on the first trip and dealt direct by email and did the same for this trip too with good results

Daniel Dam dand@SMYRILLINE.FO

Eydna eydnae@SMYRILLINE.FO

or there is a general enquiry address booking@smyrilline.fo

Lot less complex now they don't call in at Bergen or Scrabster

Hey that's brilliant, thanks for the links. I had a Web chat with them this morning and apparently it's a problem with the website, the IT geeks are sorting it and should be all fixed by today.

I'll give an agent a mail though using your link

Hello DeeBee.

As Tony said, I booked my trip by sending an email booking rather than trying to work through the random website.

They also contacted me to let me know that you can transport your motorcycle for free return by sticking within their special motorcycle offer dates. ( up to 18th of August I believe ) and a 2 day stopover in the Faroes on the return leg as part of the offer requirements.

That took my ferry cost down from 950 Euro to 520 Euro.

Its good to email the diffrent Icelandic and Danish offices, they sometimes do diffrent prices, also often its cheap to take one over the other because of currency exchange rates

I've just managed to navigate my way around the site and get a couple of quotes, but it is still a bit vague as to times and the stop off in the Faroe Islands. Cheapest price I got with the meals and cabin for two people and one motorcycle was £2063.00.

I'm going to look at freighting the bike and look at booking some flights. It's not the ideal way I would like to do it, but I really want to see Iceland and it has to be done!

Wildman 30 Oct 2013 22:45

Seems expensive. Did you see their special offer?

DeeGee 31 Oct 2013 00:44

Cheers Wildman. I did, I put both mid season and high season in on their online booking. Pretty fookin pricey! But having said that..... Where there's a will, there's a way! :scooter:

I live up here in iceland, and everyone ive spocken to says that its more expesive to freight than to use the ferry...but thats for cars, if you can get the bike/bikes on some pallets it may be cheaper...but the price they quoted you sounds a lot....i took a bigg f##koff 4x4 bedford on the ferry and it did not cost that much...but it was low season

dont buy the meals...just take some food with you...have a shared compartment they have a max of 4 anyway....also good to know ( but they dont advertise it) thats in the bottom of the boat there there is like big shared rooms, with bunks ( something like 10 in a room) its normaly for schooltrips ect ect and cheaper

What food did you take for the 2 day journey? We wouldn't have a lot of room as we'd be on the bike.

well, in the town near the ferry in dk, there is a bonus or netto supermarket, so youcan take tons...also you get a morning in faro and they have supermarkets there aswell ( you may have to wait for them to open thought)

best is to take a lofe of bread...and spread..eg tuna salad

you can also take hotdogs, and heat them wiith the water from the sink in your cabin...just let the tap run on them.

there is dutyfree on bourd so you dont need tp worry to much about that...but i think beer would still be cheaper from netto in dk

candy

half of the food i bought in dk...i was still eating when i got to rvk

its only a few days...so dont worry to much...but the food on the ship is a bit expensie...

Can anybody tell info regarding visa to Faroe Islands for non European citizens? It is really the headache to obtain special visa for only 2 days while going to Iceland. Would Shengen visa work for it?

gazza171 14 Jan 2014 23:28

im prity sure its in schengen....but its worth checking...both denmark and iceland are schengen,

bikes for freee

Haha,The website is still not working. Just call them, and make a deal at the phone!!!! They speak fluently English, Danish and Icelandic.

In 2013 the this applied. If You leave Faroe at Sunday Your bikes is free!!!

Don't order food upfront. Take it with You or just go to the restaurant at the end, eat as much for a fixed price. It was great food last Year!

Have a nice time at Brrrrrrrr Iceland Brrrr

ps, The first Campsite At Faroe is like a green field with Hotel bathrooms and a very nice shared kitchen with table an couch. And a decent free Internet connection!!! So the 3 days at Faroe You need to plan in Your trip!!!!
