Iceland shipping

Used a company called "eimskip" a few years ago who shipped the bikes to Rekjavik while we flew over.
Return shipping was around £300 from Immngham in Linconshire.
Might be a saving on having to stay over in the faroes!
Dave.

Does anyone know if the leg from Norway to Iceland has been cancelled as I can't see this on Smyril Line website...

Hey,

They are sailing from Danmark for the remainder of the year and next year as well as it seems. And then only from Hirtshals, northern Danmark.

You can see it here.

I am interested in how the getting from Scotland to Iceland and wonder if anybody has used passenger cargo and how much it is.

You could try shipping from Immingham, that's how some Icelanders I know come here..............I fly with my mountainbike from Glasgow now instead of taking my 1200GSA as it takes so long and costs so much to sail from Denmark/Faroes/Iceland compared to the Shetland/Faroes/Iceland route we used to use early season.

I just wish the Smyril Line Norrona ferry still called at Shetland as it sails right past and you can even see it!

Someone passed me on a R1200GSA when I was cycling down past Hvolsvollur in May and I must admit I had a pang of jealousy seeing 'my bike' in Iceland when I was having to slog out eighty miles a day in the peeing rain against a headwind!!!

Hope you get to ship your bike there!

Smyrl have been sailing from Danmark since 2007 when they cut out the Bergen and Shetland calls. I was on the last trip to Shetland, coming home from Germany.Smryl also got a £4million grant from Shetland council then decided not to call at Lerwick. We had a good trade with Iceland and Fårøe some firms went to the wall. There was a big tourist trade also. The Nørrona sails through Yell sound in Shetland an her way from Fårøe to Denmark, leaves a bitter taste.

Ressurecting an old thread - sorry

I've tried emailing a few cargo companies for shipping rates to Iceland but have not received a reply.

I don't want to waste half my annual leave riding to Denmark and then sitting on a boat for 3 days each way.

Looking for quotes for a few bikes from uk, to Iceland and then we fly in and pick them up.

I've got a few people interested but they can't commit with out an idea of finances.

Any one got a good contact for this??

Sambor at ADVFactory can pick bikes up from the UK and have them in Iceland for 2nd August, shipping them back early September via Warsaw.

DeeGee shipped last year. He's got a ride report either here or on ADVrider. You could ask who he used.

Shipping is confirmed and rules are simply. One price and no extra cost.

I shipped my bike from Oslo to Reykjavik with Samskip. Dropped it off at the terminal, luggage, riding gear, helmet, etc all locked to the bike. I went straight from the airport to the terminal and was riding inland shortly after. Going home, just dropped it off at the terminal. Picked it up at the Oslo terminal a good while later.
