Iceland (september-october)
 

Hello to all,
I ask for information for Iceland ..... it's a good idea to go from mid-September to mid-October?

As far as I know most of the interior close down in the beginning of September.

accommodation or roads?

Hopefully some locals will chime in with better information but I think it will be hard to find accommodation in the highland. (But there are many nice places to pitch a tent).
I guess closing of roads will be weather-dependent. There is a map of todays status here: Search the web | Road conditions and weather | English | Vegagerðin Maybe you can find some historical informatio on the same place.

and days will be very short, so the ride hours.
Sunrise and sunset times will be very late and early.

Going to Iceland
 

I was in Iceland from the 4th of august, we had nice days and rain, when it rains it is cold 6-8 C. I don' t think it will be possible to cross europes largest dessert in september. (Spregisandur) if you see the sign "Ill Fær Vegur" that means very bad road, we were ther for 14days in 2005 on 1150, 1200, & 650 GS, two men & a lady.
