Thanks and Photographs

Hey!

After a jam packed day of tidying up and ferrying things back home we are now in a position to reflect on the weekend! We intend on getting an email round to everyone that came, in the next couple of days (we might have some news on the pig!) - but for now......

........a great big thank you to all of you who came and made it the event it was. There wouldnt have been an event without you. A really great group of people.

Secondly, thanks to Grant and Susan for being there, supporting Gabe and I, and for their presentation on Saturday.

As for photographs please feel free to post on this thread, but could I beg and plead with people to also send through to our barongoose address 3 or 4 of their photos so we can try and put something together.

Cheers!

Hey Baron & Goose,

Hats off to you and your family and friends who kindly hosted such a wonderful and inspiring weekend in a stunning location. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of you who were there... beit through cider eyes; and loved the breakfast ride-out which we've got some great pictures of, and lucky to have I might say, I'm surprised Fi let go of her white-knuckle-grip of the bike long enough to take a photo, while stationary! So we'll post those as soon as.

A sincere thanks to Grant and Susan, wonderful to meet you. Long may you both ride.

BaronGoose, if there is anything else we can do for you, just shout.

Thanks again

just to put my two-penneth in...

thanks from me and Suzanne for putting the weekend together (it was us on the black KTM 950 adventure).

What an honour for our first HU meet to be the first on the site and the last to leave. Talk about getting your monies worth!

Such a pleasure to be sharing a site with such a fantastic bunch of people (and the cider wasn't bad either).

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon, either at a proper meet or pitching a tent in your backyard (Mick:thumbup1:).

Take care all,
Rich

Thanks

A thread full of thankyou's is a small but fitting reward to Char and Gabe for a great weekend so I will happily add to it.

We all need to know the secrets of how you arranged such great weather for Saturday and the whole event hit the spot perfectly for me. Thanks to everyone who took the time to chat to Jackki and I and start the crucial sparks of inspiration the will get us planning for next year.

Our first HU event of many and I look forward to meeting many of you again out there over the months and years ahead. Good luck to all those with a trip lined up already.

Basic tips picked up on this first outing:
1. Bring a spare gas bottle if you really want that early morning brew!
2. Ignore the forecast and bring a set of waterproofs for EACH person on the bike - Jackki may have looked ridiculous in my waterproof but I was the one very very wet getting home
3. Get out there and do it - then do it some more.

Thanks Again
Adi & Jackki (the one and only VStrom 1000)

Thanks

Top marks to Charlott & Gabe for a great weekend enjoyed the cider a little to much nice to get round & chat to so many like minded people. I was gowing to do the journey home in two stints but managed to do the eight miles in one go, all the best to the pig keep us informed.
All the best with the trip Kevin.

Derek2031 1 Sep 2008 18:28

Cheers to Char and Gabe, a great weekend and perfect in everyway! Well done for your efforts in bringing such a quality group of people together and putting on a great meet!

I got a whole lot of tips and ideas from everyone so my 'plan book' has once again grown in size. Oh, and the rideout was superb, just what was needed.

Despite the obligatory shower on the way back to London it was a sweet ride through the country towns along the A4, thanks to the guys that pointed that route out, and the sights along the way. :mchappy:

cheers,

What a Way to Spend a Weekend

Mine and Mark's first, and certainly not our last, meeting was made extra special by the fact that everybody we met were very welcoming, not judgemental, good fun to be with and all willing to pass on tips and snippets of knowledge that we found very useful. There was also the bonus of a day of sunshine on Saturday !

However, the thanks has got to go to Gabe & Char + mum & dad for taking time out to arrange such a good meet with excellent facilities - I couldn't believe that we were sat in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere with Grant and Susan Johnson giving a slide show presentation onto a screen from their laptop.

" :oops2:" to the above damage, I now have it glued and ready for a reinforced panel on the rear (possibly also staples) so it should be back on the bike in no time :thumbup1:

Isabel and I would also like to say a big thank you to Gabe and Charlotte for organizing this meeting. It was our first HU event but it won't be the last. Thanks also to Grant and Susan for their presentation and to everyone else for the chats, tips, advice and making it seem like our dream of just riding off into the sunset on our bikes isn't quite as mad as it seemed at first.

Look forward to meeting up with everyone again soon

Great Weekend

Hi Gabe and Char,

Just a quick note from Cyprus, many thanks for a great weekend (even though I didn't have a bike to ride:thumbdown:). It was great to meet everyone there and to see all of the bikes. For those of you that are interested it's bloody hot back here in Cyprus:Beach:.

I will post some pics as soon as I have put them on my computer.

Cheers

Hi Gabe and Char

Just to add to what everyone else has said it was great to see every one and chat but it was very hard to leave and go home after only being there for a few hours but I couldn't get the weekend off
Glad you all had a good weekend and yes I was thinking of you all when I was hard at work all weekend :(

Note to self I must sort my life out and get more time off to go to bike events

well done it was nice to meet you and see you at the next one

Hump-tastic

Guys!!!
Thank you for an ace weekend!
Top stuff.
You put a lot of time and effort into it all and it was well worth it. Turned out nice again!

I especially liked the instructional courses you arranged.
The "how to deal with wild boar" one was good.
"How to steal petrol in the dark" might come in useful too.
"Bike mounted pepper grinders" was quite an unusual lecture but very informative.
The mini wine tasting event was super as was the "find the porridge oats" contest.

The bluetooth ringtone session was one of my favourites though! Thanks riti "especially for those pics he he".

I loved Charlottes impression of a little boy in a kagoole on the Sunday morning, oh you guys!

Thanks again.
Dave.

We're in the Isle of Dogs, not Docklands - toooo pricey for the likes of us! :)

What a pleasure, and maybe a 'Micro-meet' next weekend

Thanks guys for the appreciation! We thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, and were relieved that it went so well.

Met some really top people, and was blown away by the willingness of people to help. Thanks especially to Colin, Rich and Suzanne for your significant input to the weekend.

I'm thinking of trying a 'Micro-meet' this coming weekend, on the 25/26th October. A handful of people for lunch, rideout for a couple of hours, then maybe a few people for a splash of trail riding.
If anyone's interested, please contact me direct on the following email or phone
