Shipping bike to UK

I am having a very hard time finding a company that will ship my bike from Toronto to Glasgow(or nearby).Air Canada will do it but it is nearly$2,000.Way to much. The other option is by sea.I have called over a dozen freight forwarders and all I get is hums and haws.No one can give me a clear answer on whether they do it and how much it costs.Does anyone have info on this? Also I will probably stay in the UK(I am a British citizen) and wonder about duties on importing a bike there. There is no info on duties on the British customs website.
Any info would be appreciated.I can be emailed at rrrobbb@hotmail.com

Try motorcycle express. Not sure of the price this summer, two summers ago it was 1,250 USD going east.

You'll be able to register the bike but will have to pay VAT on the value of it so bring a receipt....you will need to get it an MOT as well as tax. Relatively straightforward.

To get the MOT your bike will need to be UK compliant.

Flashing brake lights for indicators need sorting.
Your speedometer must read in MPH (I believe Canada is now using KMS/KPH ?)
The headlight will need to dip to the left (or be flat).

Most other things will comply but have a look at this lot......

Wouldn't it work out cheaper to sell there and buy a new one here?

Used Motorcycle Express. Real simple and painless process. Definitely recommend them. I paid approximately $1600 US.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
