Scottish Campfire Mini Meet
Hiya!
It's time for another Scottish Campfire Mini Meet! This will be an informal meet with just a few tents, a campfire (with tarp for bad weather protection!), and probably a ride out on the Saturday. We have yet to fine tuned the details but will work this out as we go along. When... Friday 19th October - Sunday 21st October Location... To be decided once we have an idea of numbers but we are looking at a few different campsites towards the south of Scotland which allow campfires! We may need to buy some dry kindling & firewood (a £ or so each!?!), to get the fire started on both nights! Look forward to seeing some old faces and meeting new friends, Beej n Chris |

Scottish Mini Meet
Looking forward to this, based in Gretna. Been to Berlin, Amsterdam and all over Ireland this year.
Morocco and Italy are two trips planned for next year! Let's hope we can find a good campsite for this meet, it's getting chilly so a down bag will be a good idea too! |
I could be up for this...
Any confirmation of a location yet? Matt |

Richard - looking forward to hearing of your travels, both past and future! Ireland is a possible for us next year so would be good to get some tips! Matt - the choice of location has been narrowed down due to various factors... e.g. one campsites doesn't allow you to bring your own beer! Will let you know the location asap! Hope you can make it! |

Scottish Campfire Mini Meet - LOCATION
Hi All,
After much searching and looking into various campsites we have now decided on a venue for the Scottish Campefire Mini Meet. It's not been an easy search as various campsites have strange rules e.g. not allowing you to bring your own beer! So... here are the details... Pillars of Hercules Camping (& Organic Farm). Falkland, Cupar, KY15 7AD. Phone : 01337 857 749. E-Mail : bruce@pillars.co.uk Website : Camping at the Pillars £8 per person per night. Vegi Cafe : 10am-5pm. Dont miss out on lovely organic food from our Cafe! Farm shop :9-6pm Pillars of Hercules - Shop Information Page Please book your camping pitch directly with the campsite but do let us know that your coming along! Quote HUBB MEET when you make your booking for the Bankings Field!! Looking forward to meeting faces old and new and to finding another good campsite! Beej & Chris |
Not 100% sure if I can make it yet, but would it be classed as cheating if I were to drive up?
The little DR (125) doesn't sound the most appealing for the ride up. |
Superb!!!
|
Now thats an easy run down for me after work on the Saturday, will pull out all stops to get there for 1600hrs. Mike hopefully will be there much earlier.
Sounds like a nice place. |
Chris S - Hope you can make it... all are welcome on 2 wheels or 4!
MW2K8 (Matt) - Hope you can make it! Tis a very handy location for you! Milimut (Liz & Mike) - Good to hear that the venue will be easy for you to get to after work on the Saturday. Hope that Mike will be able to make it on the Friday. Beej & Chris |

Hi, I'm a bit of a newby at this!
Hope to make it to the campsite.Looking forward to the experience. I live in Galashiels, and have done France, Ireland and three times to Poland-Krakow, Gdansk and Goldap/Gyzicko, usually taking one of my sons as pillion. Used a 1998 fireBlade and a 2007 cb1300. I'll probably be there just for the Saturday night, but may yet make it on the Friday. Regards, Baz. :) |

Campsite now taking bookings!
Hi Everyone,
Appologies to those of you who have been trying to book your pitch for the weekend with the campsite... the problem has been resolved and they are now taking bookings. But here's what happened... I got in from work at 9pm on Monday to find an email from the campsite saying that due to past problems with groups (not motorcyclists) they only accept groups when they have a named person who will be responsible for the group and will pay a deposit (£100), refundable on leaving the site clean and with no damage. As you can imagine I was a bit shocked as nothing about this group deposit had been mentioned during either of the phone calls which myself or my husband had with the staff whilst organising the location. This has been quite hard to resolve due our work hours but we have at long last managed to sort it out! However, we have had to come up with the £100 deposit! Can I please encourage you all now to book in with the campsite quoting "HUBB MEET" and to pay for your pitch in advance to avoid anymore confusion or other unforseen problems! Hope your all having a great week and looking forward to meeting you all around the campfire! Beej & Chris |
Campsite is £7 per person
Good news... the campsite is not charging us for our motorbikes!
So £7 per person per night! :thumbup1: |
Well,, after missing the ABR weekend in Ullapool I will find out in the morning whether I wil be back onshore for this wee meet or not,, so will keep you posted,

Hi Beej, I take it you still have places available on this on if so i might try to pootle along, the backs still pretty bad - waiting surgery but controlled by pain killers at the moment - I could probably make the trip with a few breaks in the journey. As i am now able to ride again for short runs at a time. It would be good to see some faces and have a beer as i have been cooped up at home for far two long.
|
Beej I have booked in for the Friday and will probably stay Saturday as well depending on how well I am feeling. It will be great to see everyone and even better to get under canvas again after what seems like a long haul of not being on the road. Jake.
|
If there's space left ill book a place, Do I just book over the phone and turn up on the day?
|
Dave.
Phoned the number on the Web-Site and just paid it over the phone. Very helpful folk. Ali |
Jake (Adventure950) - Yay! It'll be great to see you on the bike again! You've made me smile!
Dave08 - All are welcome... the more the merrier! Just call the campsite on 01337 857 749 to book your place and let us know when to expect you! Looks like we are going to have a good bunch of people... all we need now is some nice beer and sunshine... :Beach:! Here's hoping! |
Will get pitch booked this week and Di & Brian who went to Romania with us are booked in for the Saturday.

Looking forward to meeting Di & Brian and to seeing you or course Liz on the Saturday!

Gi me a shout and I will hook up wi you on way up the road. Good news you managed to get away. No prob for me to cut over to Carter Bar on the A68 to meet up. All we need now is some good weather. Ali |
Weather man says light showers all next weekend if anyone interested. They have been known to tell fibs though. I will be heading up during the day on Friday hope to be up their in time for mid afternoon. However - strong winds will put me off as I wont be able to ride in them as that really affects my neck/ back injury so hope the wind keeps at bay. Looking forward to catching up with everyone. Jake.

I'm meeting up with Alivfr750 at carter bar around mid day If you fancy meeting to ride up see you there, Dave |
Hi Dave I am calling bye a mates on the way up near berwick so wont be that far west by lunchtime but thanks very much for the offer to meet up - will catch up at the campsite cheers Jake.
|
Looks like i've double booked myself, so possibly going to be there Friday instead of Saturday...
|
Beej - Chris, my back and shoulder / neck are playing up bad again and I am having a lot of pain, i am also now advised not to ride a bike by the neurosurgeon as this could be quite dangerous to my long term prognosis and I am not due surgery for a year and even then the out come may not allow me to ride again. As a result I will not be able to attend the meeting and am in fact just going to sell up the bike (take away the temptation and move on a bit) until I can get sorted one way or the other with these health issues i currently have - so maybe a year down the road I may be in a better position - but for current time certainly and maybe for good - me, motorbikes and travelling are parting company. Catch up some time Best wishes to all have a good meeting Jake.
|
Hi Jake,
Really sorry to hear that your back has got worse again... Really hope that your able to get it sorted and can find a way to travel which you can cope with as we know how much you love it all. Thinking of you lots, Beej n Chris x. |
Spoke to Bruce at the campsite today, as it stands at present we have the Bankings Field to ourself's which is great! Chris has a bag of wood ready to go on the back of his bike and we have a tarp and a windbreak to give us some shelter from the weather!
Bruce says that the daylight is going around 6-6:30pm at the moment incase you want to plan your arrival to get set up in daylight! Let me know what time to expect you and I'll try to have the kettle on! Beej |

need to practice my landing I think http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...g?t=1350929158 |
I added few pictures from mini meet in to my profile..

Hi Beej and Chris,
Thanks very much for the nice weekend! We enjoyed also the company, had a good laugh. We got back last night after a romantic evening at the campfire. Thanks again, Andy and Maya. |
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Unfortunately i'm having problems with the car, which meant i couldn't make it. I will do my very best to be at any future meets. My sincere apologies. Thank you and well done to Chris + Beej for there efforts. Sorry. M
|
Thanks Beej and Chris
Had a great Friday night at the campfire, unfortunately couldn't stay the Saturday night.
Great meeting you all and thanks for the awesome stories. Big Dave - Easy tiger, home brew is only for big boys :) Got a puncture on the M9 when doing 70 - 75 MPH, back wheel, big ol speed wobble, managed to get it under control, my wee puncture repair kit worked a treat. Thanks again and well done Beej and Chris. |
Just realised I missed this, the last few weeks seem to have been a blur of work, vehicles breaking down and fitting the kitchen. Will hopefully get my arse in gear and get to the next one bier
|
Piotr, I like the photos.
Beej I love the awards, cant wait to tell Mike he won something. I am thinking it is his ploy to get a satnav but he will have to make do with a Laplander. The Tipi is still hanging from the loft, making extra sure it is dry before it gets packed away for the winter. Mike has still to empty one of his panniers, not sure what will be found in there but at least when it is it will be preserved. Dave ouch that bruise looked sore just annoyed I missed the acrobatics that caused it. Andy & Maya safe trip hope to catch up with you in 2013. Winter nights are here so google maps, and ferry timetables are the only things on my mind, well that and chopping another kindling supply. See you all after winter hibernation. Liz n Mike |
Just joined the forum and was hoping that you guys will be having another meet this year,(2013).

There is also a Mini Meet at Cannich usually in May. Hopefully we will see you at one of these meets. Where abouts are you??? |
Falkirk
If this is happening this year count me, it's not too far away. If it is anything like Cannich it will be brilliant.
