Highland Wild Camp night

Mike & I are heading to the wilds of Perthshire on
Saturday 6th August 2011
1 night only
We wont arrive until around 1800hrs, dont want to set up a wild camp too early.
I cant find a road number for where we are headed but ask google maps for Braes of Foss and that is the road. For the hill walkers amongst you its The Schiehallion Road. You get to this road from either the B846 at Tomphubil or again the B846 at Kinloch Rannoch. Its an old quarry near to Lochan an Daim, there have been campfires here in the past and stone fireplaces still in place and some wood nearby.
Dont worry if you dont want to pitch up near the camp fire there is another flat bit of ground nearby well away from the fire.
No pubs, hotels, cafes or toilets near so you NEED to bring everything with you and remember the bottle opener or cork screw and marshmallows.
Hopefully it will be a dry night with a slight breeze that way the midge will be kept away.
If there is anyone interest in joining us let us know.

Liz 'n' Mike

Ps send me a pm for the os grid reference

Fingers crossed Beej & Chris can make it, I know they are busy tis summer.
So far there are about 9 of us but sure there is room for a few more bikes, tents and riders of course.

Hopefully we have seen all the rain we are going to this summer so fingers crossed it will be dry(ish)

The camp site

Early morning in Perthshire Too many empty bottles for there to be any activity this early.

The more eagle eyed of you might notice a tent with a distinct sag, the one under the tree they forgot the poles & pegs so the bungees were used to tie it to the tree and rocks were used in place of pegs.

The posh looking maroon tent is an ancient Vango about 15 years old.
It has done its fair share of camping trips over the years and is a bit worn at the edges and the groundsheet needs a plastic sheet under it to make it waterproof. But for a single night trip it is fine for a back up tent for the newest biker in the group.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
